☝️ How we rated the services below:

Before diving into the world-renowned pub scene in Dublin, we thought it only fair to share our criteria for reviewing these establishments.

  • We believe a pub's authenticity is paramount. Traditional Irish pubs aren't just about drinks; they're also cultural hubs where stories are shared, and relationships are forged. As such, an authentic atmosphere forms part of our evaluation.
  • In examining a pub's interior design and layout, we acknowledge that aesthetics contribute significantly to the overall experience. Wood panelling, comfortable seating, dim lighting – all could tell tales of history while promoting cosiness and comfort.
  • Beer quality doesn’t escape our scrutiny, either. A hallmark of a great Dublin pub is the selection and quality of beers on tap – from international names to regional specialities
  • The hospitality factor is checked rigorously by us because friendly service can make or break the occasion in any establishment worth it's salt!
  • Another important criterion is live music offerings: Traditional Irish tunes compliment your pint for total immersion into this heady mix of cultural delight.
  • Our reviews also evaluate food options – Pub grub isn’t usually gourmet dining but should offer warm comfort food that pairs well with patrons' pints!

Brannigans

Brannigans

⭐ An Unfiltered Assessment of Brannigans:

Brannigans, oh what a pub! Located just a stone's throw away from the spire, this lively establishment offers an authentic Irish experience like no other. As I entered Brannigans all by myself, I immediately felt welcomed by the friendly and polite staff. The atmosphere was electric, with multiple TV sets broadcasting an international soccer match – a true haven for sports enthusiasts.

I decided to indulge in some classic pub fare and boy, did it hit the spot! The generous servings of Brannigans chicken wings smothered in hot sauce were absolutely phenomenal. And let's not forget about their beef and Guinness stew casserole; pure comfort food that warmed my soul on a chilly Dublin evening.

Now, there was one minor hiccup during my visit – the Harrison's mayo they served alongside their hand cut chips. It tasted rather acidic and weird, so I opted to enjoy my dish without it. However, fret not because everything else on the menu more than made up for this slight disappointment.

One thing worth noting is that Brannigans is popular among locals for good reason. With prices that won't break the bank (€5.90 for a pint of Guinness!), you can avoid tourist traps like The Temple Bar while still immersing yourself in true Irish hospitality.

The Bleeding Horse

The Bleeding Horse

⭐ Our Honest Opinion of The Bleeding Horse:

The Bleeding Horse, what a gem! Tucked away on Camden Street Upper, this place is an absolute delight. From the moment you step in, you are greeted with an energetic atmosphere and friendly staff who go above and beyond to make your visit memorable.

First of all, let's talk about the size of this place. It's much larger than it appears from the outside, with multiple rooms offering plenty of space to find a table even during busy times. And speaking of busy times, they have all the sporting events covered so you can catch up with friends while cheering for your favorite team.

But let's not forget the real star here – the food and drinks. The menu offers a great selection of pub classics executed flawlessly. I highly recommend trying their fish & chips served with tangy tartare sauce and peas puree. Though I did have a minor bump in my culinary journey when it came to their cauliflower wings; they were slightly undercooked and lacked that crispy texture I was hoping for.

However, despite that little hiccup, I must say that The Bleeding Horse is worth every visit just for its vibrant atmosphere alone. With its charming decor and attentive staff working their magic behind the bar, you'll feel right at home from start to finish.

So come on down to The Bleeding Horse – it may just become your new favorite spot in Dublin!

👍 Our Reasons for Recommending:

  • Energetic atmosphere and great service!
  • Walking distance from local accommodations.
  • Good food and cold pints of beer.

The Long Hall

⭐ An Unfiltered Assessment of The Long Hall:

The Long Hall, a pub that embodies the charm and elegance of the Victorian age. As I stepped inside, overwhelmed by the grandeur of its architecture, I couldn't help but feel transported to a bygone era. The hustle and bustle of fellow patrons created an electric atmosphere – it felt like being part of something special.

Despite the initial allure, there was one blip in an otherwise enjoyable experience. A member of the bar staff seemed unable to understand my ordering requests no matter how many times I tried to explain. It wasn't until my friend intervened that she suddenly grasped what we wanted and conveniently ignored me for the rest of our time there. An odd encounter indeed, which slightly tainted an otherwise warm welcome.

Nevertheless, The Long Hall is still a recommended spot due to its unparalleled aesthetics and overall experience. Quick service prevailed throughout most interactions with friendly waitstaff who were more than happy to accommodate our needs. Although some stools lacked comfortability, they did little to detract from this interesting pub's unique appeal.

Visiting Dublin regularly gives me a prime opportunity to indulge in timeless traditions such as enjoying a pint or two at The Long Hall. Bartenders may tire from constantly pouring Guinness – which curiously tastes sweeter here – but it remains their specialty drink adored by practically every patron present.

In conclusion, despite the temporary setback during my visit at The Long Hall, its stunning Victorian vibes will entrance any visitor seeking not just great service but also an extraordinary atmosphere steeped in history and character worth embracing time after time.

👍 Our Reasons for Recommending:

  • Charming Victorian architecture and ambiance
  • Reasonable prices for Guinness and other drinks
  • Friendly staff (with the exception of one encounter)
