Buck Mulligans

⭐ An Unfiltered Assessment of Buck Mulligans:

Buck Mulligans, oh how I adore you! This charming establishment located on George’s Street Lower in Dún Laoghaire has stolen my heart. From the moment you step through the door, you are enveloped in an atmosphere that feels like your own cozy seating room. It’s my absolute favourite place in Dun Laoghaire for live music.

Thursdays and Saturdays are a joyous affair as Buck Mulligans comes alive with sensational live performances. But it’s Sunday nights that truly steal the show for me – Open Mic Night! There is something magical about seeing talented individuals take to the stage and share their brilliance with an attentive audience.

Now, here’s my only gripe – the beer selection can be a tad disappointing at times. The ever-popular Punk IPA seems to fly off the shelves quicker than I can say “Cheers!” Nonetheless, this minor setback does not detract from what makes Buck Mulligans great.

One of its shining aspects is undoubtedly the staff. They radiate warmth and kindness with each interaction, making every visit feel like catching up with old friends. The smoking area is lovely too; perfect for those who enjoy a breath of fresh air while enjoying their pint of Guinness.

In conclusion, Buck Mulligans may have its quirks (looking at you sold-out IPA!), but it more than makes up for them with its fantastic atmosphere and friendly staff. If you’re searching for a place where memorable nights are made and good vibes abound, then make your way down to Buck Mulligans without delay!

👍 Our Reasons for Recommending:

  • Great atmosphere and live music
  • Lovely staff and smoking area
  • Nice seating areas and pints of Guinness

The Two Foxes Pub

⭐ Our Unvarnished Impressions of The Two Foxes Pub:

The Two Foxes Pub, oh how I love this place! Tucked away on George’s Street Upper in Dún Laoghaire, it is a hidden gem that ignites the flames of my passion for live music. Nowhere else in Dun Laoghaire can you find such a vibrant atmosphere accompanied by soul-stirring melodies on a Friday night. It astounds me that this pub is the only one in town offering this fantastic experience.

Upon walking through its doors, I was instantly greeted with warmth and enthusiasm from the bartenders. Their friendly nature and willingness to help made me feel right at home. However, I must admit that The Two Foxes could benefit from an air freshener as the aroma was slightly off-putting at times. But let me tell you – the love music more than makes up for it!

Ashly, oh Ashly! She is like Arya Stark from Game of Thrones – full of fierce talent and undeniable skill. Seeing her perform is an experience not to be missed; she truly captures your heart with each note she sings.

⭐ Our Genuine Review of O’Loughlin’s:

O’Loughlin’s, oh how I adore thee! Tucked away on George’s Street Lower in Dún Laoghaire, this absolute gem of a pub stole my heart from the moment I stepped foot inside. The intimate old man vibe filled me with warmth and nostalgia, as if I had stumbled upon a secret haven hidden from the bustling city.

But it was when I made my way to the cosy beer garden that I truly fell head over heels. Fairy lights twinkled above me as a sense of tranquillity washed over. And can we talk about the bar staff? Unbelievably friendly doesn’t even begin to cover it. They brought our drinks right to us with smiles plastered on their faces, making us feel like cherished regulars.

Oh, but let’s not forget the real star of the show – their Guinness! Priced at an unheard-of 5 euros (I mean seriously Dublin, take notes), this pint of velvety perfection left my taste buds singing hallelujah. It is genuinely some of the best Guinness I have ever had the pleasure of sipping.

The ambiance was warm and inviting, with a touch of quirkiness that made it stand out from other establishments in the area.

Let me start by raving about the food. As a vegan, finding options can sometimes be challenging, but not at The Lighthouse. Their menu had an array of mouthwatering choices that left my taste buds begging for more. The veggie toastie and Caesar salad were beyond delicious – no boring goats cheese here! And speaking of coffee,to take away), let me tell you their baristas are true magicians. Each sip was like heaven in a cup.

Had a really nice lunch here mid week with a couple of friends. We all really enjoyed the food. One of the girls is a vegan and was very happy with how much choice she had on the menu. Coffees (that we got to take away) were exceptionally good….

Love the Lighthouse. I helped IADT Students’ Union work a student drag event upstairs and the staff were so friendly and accommodating. We had some issues with unwelcome guests coming in and being creepy and hostile towards our students and the staff…

P. McCormack and Sons

⭐ Our Genuine Review of P. McCormack and Sons:

P. McCormack and Sons, what a delight! From the moment we stepped foot into this charming establishment on Mounttown Road Lower, we knew we were in for a treat. The warm and welcoming atmosphere immediately drew us in, making us feel like old friends rather than just customers.

Now let me tell you about the food – oh my goodness! It was nothing short of amazing. I opted for the duck with veggies and mashed potatoes, accompanied by a glass of Tempranillo. And what a decision that was! Each bite was bursting with flavor, leaving me wanting more. They certainly know how to satisfy even the most discerning taste buds.

But I have to mention one little drawback: if you’re looking for a quiet dinner experience, this might not be your ideal spot when there’s rugby on TV. The place can get quite noisy with people shouting their support or frustration at the screen. However, if you can handle a bit of lively banter in the background while enjoying exceptional cuisine, then P. McCormack and Sons is definitely worth visiting!

The Greedy Eagle

⭐ Our Honest Opinion of The Greedy Eagle:

The Greedy Eagle… where do I even begin? My taste buds are still tingling from the incredible meal I had there. Let me tell you, this place serves up the best fish and chips in Sandycove, hands down! As soon as I took my first bite of that fresh piece of Cod, I knew I was in for a treat. The batter was a work of art, crispy on the outside without being chewy and falling apart just right.

But it’s not just about the fish and chips at The Greedy Eagle. The menu is filled with mouthwatering options that have left me eager to come back for more. So many delicious dishes were being served around me that next time, I’m definitely going to try something different.

Not only is the food top-notch at this gem of a place, but the ambiance is also perfect. There’s plenty of space so you won’t feel cramped, and everything feels nice and bright. And let’s not forget about the attentive staff who made our dining experience even better.

Now, here’s one thing to keep in mind – it can be a bit pricey considering they offer somewhat small portions. But for me personally, every bite was worth it because when you’re eating quality like this at The Greedy Eagle, you know you’re getting your money’s worth.

So if you find yourself in Dublin craving some seriously good food, head straight to The Greedy Eagle and prepare to have your taste buds blown away by their fantastic fish and chips (and much more!). Trust me when I say: once will never be enough!
