Dublin, oh Dublin! A city that’s famous for its literature, music, and most of all – whiskey. If you’re a fan of this smooth nectar from the gods of distilled spirits, then you’ve come to the right place because today we're going on a journey exploring some of the best whiskey bars in town.
Ah, what is life without a glass of exquisite whiskey? Whether you like it neat or mixed with your favourite cocktail ingredients – there's something magical about sipping one after a long day at work. As they say: “It takes only one drink to get me drunk; The trouble is I can't remember if it's the thirteenth or fourteenth.” This quote by George Burns sure has us intrigued about trying out each bar and finding our lucky number.
Now onto business – where should we begin? Should we head straight to the temple bar area where every other pub claims to have an endless selection of malted goodness? Or should we take a step back into history and visit traditional pubs that are hidden down cobblestone alleyways waiting to be discovered?
Whichever path we choose- I'm confident at least six different whiskeys will be tasted before reaching any conclusions. From classic malts aged 12 years or more, single grain expressions from various distilleries nationwide, and blended whiskeys developed for mixing techniques such as old fashions or Irish coffees – with new glasses being filled as quickly as empty ones are taken away! So fasten your seatbelts (or loosen them), ‘cause we're embarking on this adventure together!
Key Takeaways:
Here's what you'll learn from reading this article
- The best whiskey bars in Dublin usually feature cosy, intimate settings – often with dim lighting and comfortable seating – that make for an enjoyable drinking experience. This can range from traditional pubs with historic décor to trendy modern venues with sleek design elements.
- With over 130 distilleries across Ireland producing distinctive styles of distilled spirit under different brand names flavoured by barley water – it comes along as no surprise to have served around 70% exportation internationally where American tastes drive consumption significantly. Therefore, having a diverse collection featuring various single malt whiskies coupled with barrel-aged blends entices a vast amount of customers whilst keeping up-to-date on the latest trends such as craft beer shops raising demand for more innovative experiences such as whisky mixtures or scotch beers!
- A knowledgeable staff helps elevate the overall experience at any top-notch whiskey bar you come across. From suggesting exciting bourbons or tasting flights despite initial indecisive posture Or even explaining how rare find Macallan’s whisky is aged 30 years after being placed into oak barrels-drawn comparison between Lagavulin’s peaty earth flavours when compared to Bushmills milder softer expressions-you'll feel confident trying out new drinks while enjoying their distinct stories!
- Live music paired with tantalizing sips makes the visit worthwhile thus It's not just about getting sloshed—though most patrons do become quite merry but equally enjoying popular music or weekly vinyl sessions makes it worthwhile! Plus, whiskey-tasting events and educational seminars where you can learn more about the rich history of Irish Whiskey straight from the distillers themselves keep the conversation alive for days.

From the moment I walked through the door, I knew that this was going to be an experience like no other. Zozimus Bar is the epitome of a vibrant and exciting place in Dublin! As soon as I stepped inside, the energy was palpable. The bartenders were friendly and talkative, making me feel right at home. Their drink menu had some of the most fun and creative options that I have ever seen! My personal favourite was their Polynesian daiquiri- it was out of this world!
But that's just one aspect of Zozimus. The outdoor area deserves special mention for its large overflow for smokers or cooling down from dancing to good tunes inside! It's known for hanging umbrellas which create an aesthetic worth experiencing.
I must say, though – what made my experience truly unforgettable was attending a staff Christmas party there. Not only is the venue itself lovely with a great atmosphere, but their food surpassed all expectations as well. Their service couldn't have been better thanks to our amazing host Laura who made sure we were comfortable throughout the night. Every cocktail we saw looked absolutely stunning! To add to my wonderful experience, the friendly service at Moss Lane was second to none. Shane who served us had excellent knowledge about all their food and drink offerings but also shared with us his local expertise making our visit even more special. Not only did he suggest the must-visit tourist attractions but also let us in on some hidden gems of Ireland that we wouldn't have discovered if not for him.
The star attraction – the food – deserves all the praise! We ordered handmade pappardelle with nduja & marscapone sauce along with casarecce tossed together with fresh basil pesto – both tasted heavenly! Additionally, we couldn't resist ordering one of their classic pepperoni pizzas to share which exceeded expectations too! All dishes were freshly made from authentic ingredients without any compromise whatsoever. Without a doubt, I would recommend this Italian treasure nestled in Moss Lane as your go-to dining spot while in Dublin!
