☝️ How we rated the services below:

Selecting the best outdoor swimming spots in Dublin requires thoughtful consideration of several key factors. Here’s what guides our choices:

  • Water Quality and Safety: We prioritize spots known for their clean and safe waters. It’s essential that swimmers feel secure and the water is tested regularly for quality.
  • Accessibility and Location: Ease of access is crucial. We look for swimming spots that are accessible by public transport and have adequate parking for those who prefer to drive.
  • Amenities and Facilities: Basic amenities such as changing rooms, showers, and toilets significantly enhance the swimming experience. We consider these a must-have for any top-rated spot.
  • Natural Beauty and Surroundings: Part of the allure of outdoor swimming is the environment. We select spots offering stunning natural beauty, whether a picturesque seascape or a tranquil river setting.
  • Variety of Activities: While swimming is the primary focus, we appreciate spots that offer additional activities like snorkelling, kayaking, or nearby hiking trails, adding value to the overall experience.

Vico Bathing Place

☝️ Our reasons for recommending:

  • Ideal natural pool to relax or dip
  • Nearby beaches and low rocks for swimming
  • Paths perfect for hiking/walking

Vico Baths is a great place for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike. Hawk Cliff offers a stunning view of the Irish Sea, lovely greenery and plenty of paths that are perfect for hiking or walking. The main attraction is the tiny pool which gives you an unexpected opportunity to take a dip in its cold water. Many people visit this bathing spot on their trip to Dublin as it has some unique features such as shallow rocks nearby where they can jump, paddle and relax while enjoying the natural beauty surrounding them.

The location of Vico Baths makes it easily accessible despite its remote location- just minutes away from Killiney, Co Dublin! But what’s great about this place is that it remains untouched by civilization: no loud music, no high rise buildings or busy roads- all you get here is fresh air and peaceful landscape especially if you arrive early before anyone else does.. As mentioned previously, parking close by isn’t easy due to limited space however if you plan ahead you could find one nearby or better yet take public transport instead; otherwise several buses stop near Vico Rd so if driving isn’t your thing taking one will do fine too!

Forty Foot

☝️ Our reasons for recommending:

  • Always favorite stop.

  • Toilet facilities with hot water.

The Forty Foot beach is a fantastic place to visit and go swimming, especially if you are a cold water swimmer. There are amazing views of Dublin Bay while taking a chilly dip or simply soaking in the sun. What’s great is that there are also orientation signs to help avoid incoming storm waves, so your safety while swimming here is guaranteed! The toilet facilities have hot water which makes it even more desirable as a spot for swimming all year round.

It’s the perfect combination of fun and enjoying nature at its best—it’s no wonder why this area has been extremely popular over time with such an excellent range of amenities to help make people’s day out extra special! Even if you might not be interested in taking a dive into cold waters, it still offers spectacular sights during sunny days when people often gather around here for some good times together.

High Rock

☝️ Our reasons for recommending:

  • Stunning coastal views.
  • Ideal for swimmers.
  • Great for day trips.

High Rock was my go-to spot growing up, and something I still recommmend to visitors today. With stunning views of the Irish coastline, it’s easy to while away a day with your family or friends taking in all the beauty around you. Plus its super close to Dublin city centre so even if you’re only on a quick trip you won’t miss out!

I would definitely recommend High Rock to avid swimmers too, as the deeper waters here are ideal for some serious exercise – just be sure to check tide times before venturing into the sea or else risk getting cut off by incoming waves! Dogs can really enjoy themselves at High Rock too; there’s plenty of space along the beach and rocks where they can have fun with their owners without causing a disturbance.

Balscadden Bay Beach

☝️ Our reasons for recommending:

  • Picturesque spot.
  • Inviting atmosphere.
  • Safety measures in place.

Balscadden Bay Beach is the ideal place to visit if you’re looking for seclusion and tranquility. The place itself is incredible, with breathtaking views of the Irish sea situated in Ireland’s Howth peninsula. Steep steps take you down to the beach, but once there it’s worth every step taken as clear waters kiss your feet and subtle waves ripple onto shore. Despite its peacefulness and beauty it remains relatively unknown due to its remote location from Dublin city.

Asides from being a picturesque spot that commands respect, Balscadden Bay Beach has much more to offer than just natural beauty- there are regular friendly swimmers frequenting this bay which creates an inviting atmosphere throughout! Added safety measures make visitors aware of potential rough tides at low tide or rockpools however when entering the water. It may also not be suitable for wheelchair access due we steep inclines so please exercise caution here!

Not only does Balscadden Bay provide stunning scenery; courtesy benches line along walls making them perfect picnic spots during sunny summer days but careful marine plastic pollution too – there are signs requesting all visitors remove three pieces of litter before leaving! In conclusion I would highly recommend visiting this hidden gem as soon as possible – you won’t regret it one bit!

Low Rock

☝️ Our reasons for recommending:

  • Safe & friendly environment
  • Great swimming spot at high tide
  • Close to Malahide & Gannon park.

Visiting Low Rock is a great way to enjoy the shore and enjoy some ocean swims. The proximity to Malahide and Gannon Park makes it easy to access, providing plenty of free parking nearby. The fact that there are always other people around ensures safety while swimming out in the natural oceanic environment. There also aren’t any facilities at Low Rock so remember to bring your own gear if you decide to visit!

Those looking for adventure can check the tide times and come during high tide when it gets busy – which gives swimmers an opportunity for socializing with others enjoying their time on the water. So whether its beachcombing or a simple dip in the sea, visitors won’t be disappointed when visiting Low Rock! Plus its 4.8 star rating from Google Reviews speaks volumes about customer satisfaction from previous patrons of this beautiful spot near Malahide.

Overall, I would highly recommend checking out Low Rock for yourself if you’re ever looking for a relaxing day by the coastal waters . The atmosphere is friendly and safe as long as caution is taken into consideration due to potential rise in waves during high tide. Indeed, who knows what treasure may lie beneath these rocky shores!

Dublin City’s Mens Swimming Shelter is a worthwhile visit for all locals and visitors alike. The shelter, designed by the iconic architect Herbert Simms in 1934, offers a fantastic opportunity to enjoy a swim in the Irish Sea while taking in its stunning views, 1.5 hours either side of high tide.

The kiosk located on Bull Wall further enhances the experience it provides fresh drinks and snacks that make this bathing spot even more welcoming and enjoyable from your time there with friends or family. On top of that, having such an important piece of architecture along Dublin City’s coastline adds to its beauty and charm – something worth mentioning through photos taken at this historical landmark!

The Mens Swimming Shelter is well-loved by many due to its unique design, delicious food & drink choices available nearby as well as being situated close enough so people can just travel there for day trips or weekend getaways without feeling overwhelmed about having too far of a journey! Malahide Beach

☝️ Our reasons for recommending:

  • Beautiful views
  • Easy access
  • Public transport

It is worth visiting Malahide Beach because of its beauty, accessibility and facilities. The beach has a wide stretch of sandy shore with beautiful views over the bay making it perfect for my morning walks or evening strolls. It also provides easy access from town by public transport and lots of parking if you’re driving. Moreover, there are amenities nearby such as restaurants, shops and even an ice cream van so you don’t have to worry about being thirsty after spending some time in the sun!

Malahide Beach is a great place to relax with friends and family since there’s plenty of room to either spread out your towels or set up conversation areas in the warm summer sun.
