A huge plus is that this gives full justice to our brave martyrs who fought valiantly for their freedom!

I’d also like to mention that despite being one of the smaller museums in Dublin, its reasonably priced entrance fee makes it very affordable compared to some other tourist attractions nearby.

Overall, if you are interested in Irish history or want to better understand what happened during these revolutionary times then don’t hesitate! Although I wasn’t able to tour inside as it closed during winter season, I was still taken aback by the beautiful exterior aesthetics that feature Victorian period architecture. My visit included walk-around photoshoots outside with my friends which were memorable experiences! Additionally, a memorial statue honouring Wilde’s legacy stands at the park across the street – this stop provided me with great history lessons and storytelling moments about Ireland.

Dublin Castle is an incredible historic site in the heart of Dublin that’s worth visiting. The castle used to be the residence of the viceroy of Ireland until Ireland gained its independence. Today, it showcases beautiful opulent rooms filled with stunning artwork and furniture from around the 1900s. I found myself captivated by every corner of this elegant building, from golden finishes and paintings to baroque mirrors, chandeliers, and armchairs.

The self-guided tour gives you all the information necessary for exploring each room at a fair price without missing any details. Alternatively, custom guided tours are also available if you prefer more context during your visit. Either way, it was nice to have a knowledgeable guide helping us explore all there was to see within these walls.

Although some sections like the church/tower require guided tours only – there’s still plenty to admire even on a self-guided one – including portraits throughout which were truly impressive.The minor drawback was that some artworks didn’t receive appropriate signage or descriptions but suggesting so could be helpful for future visits.

Overall,I would recommend anyone interested in Irish history/ art considering Dublin Castle as their next stop along their journey in Dublin!

Dalkey Castle & Heritage Centre

Located on Castle Street in Dalkey, Dublin, the Dalkey Castle & Heritage Centre is an absolute gem of a historic site. From start to finish, the tour was a delightful experience that truly brought history to life. With amazing period actors leading us through the castle and town, my travel companion and I were completely engrossed by their performances and enjoyed every moment of it.

The interaction with our guides Carol and Rupert made the tour really fun and informative as we learned about various aspects of medieval life while exploring one of Ireland’s most beautiful towns. Not only did we get to see what life was like during those times, but at some points felt as if we had traveled back in time! Moreover, outside of its educational aspect, it is worth visiting for geeks who are interested in learning more about Irish culture.

In addition to its fantastic content delivery system, the center is also remarkably well set up for tourists. Though small in size compared with other castles around Europe – this fact allowed a friendly staff member to show us all over nooks! Overall highly recommended for anyone sharing our interest or appreciation for historical sites or leisure activities combined education tourism comparable outdoor spot industry that explores architecture & country stories etc.!

The wall markers are found all over the city as they indicate surviving sections of old city – these were helpful clues for me when searching for other remnants of Dublin’s colorful history.

Walking along Cooke Street wall section and St Audeon’s Gate was a truly breathtaking experience! It’s amazing how we can still feel transported back in time just by observing preserved architecture such as this City Wall from centuries ago. The pavement alterations made by the City Council also provide visitors with ample opportunity to imagine what things must have been like back then.

Although I was initially worried that finding Olde Dublin will be an arduous task or some outdated alleyways, I came out appreciative of how well-maintained and beautiful it all still looks today! It has so much character- more than what photos can show! If you’re planning a visit here soon, remember to ask local guides who know their way around for recommendations on other fascinating sites that aren’t widely known – they’ll definitely showcase another side of vibrant ancient Dublin that you might miss without a good guide!

Clerys Clock

As someone who worked here for 37 years before redundancy struck, I can attest to how much this building means to both locals and tourists alike. Seeing work being undertaken on the building is a great sign that it will open again someday hopefully soon. Whether or not Clerys future is certain at present, seeing lovely lights shining over their windows makes me optimistic about what we can expect from them once they reopen their doors.

Finally, I’m thrilled by hearing about plans for Clerys future because this historic site deserves nothing less than a positive use going forward. To see it reopened would be such a joy especially with its full potential now being able to be regained which goes way back beyond my employment there many moons ago. So remember next time you find yourself in the center of Dublin – take some time out of your day and snap a picture or two while appreciating what history has left behind us with wonderful architectural features like Clerys Clock on our doorstep still in good condition after all these years!

As a person who has always been curious about their family history, I found the Irish Family History Centre to be an amazing resource. From the moment we arrived at the Chq Building, we were greeted by friendly staff who directed us to our genealogist Patrick Roycroft. When he sat down with us, you could instantly see and feel his passion for uncovering our family’s past. His expertise in genealogy was exceptional and he managed to connect so many dots that it left us astonished with all of the information we received.

I truly believe that this centre is worth visiting as they have an array of records available on-site which makes discovering your ancestors’ stories more efficient than trying to undertake such research online or through other means. The atmosphere there is warm and inviting; it is clear how much effort everyone puts forth into making visitors feel welcome and comfortable throughout their consultation process.

Furthermore, I appreciate that this process highlights important moments in Irish history which are essential when trying to understand one’s heritage. Visiting here was probably one of my favourite parts of my trip to Dublin – Being able to engage on such a personal level with our roots made me realise just how significant knowing where you come from can be!

Overall an incredibly worthwhile experience!

As an engineer, I love seeing structures built so long ago still functional and beautiful hundreds of years later. Walking across it, you’ll be captivated by its fabulous views over the river Liffey and the lovely architecture. The bridge’s imperfections make it all the more adorable, unique and personal – just like someone with a distinct character.

Ha’penny Bridge started as a toll bridge where people were once charged half penny to cross it. Today, however, everyone can enjoy this wonderful iron bridge without paying any fee. You will see many homeless people sitting here but Dublin does have quite a lot of them wherever you walk. So why not be generous and give them some money? Fifty cents may seem insignificant to us but for someone else could mean they eat! It’s easy to imagine how great this city must have been back in those days when steamboats filled these waters.

If you are planning a trip to Dublin anytime soon, then walking over Ha’penny Bridge should definitely be on your itinerary list! The experience is truly unforgettable – crossing this bridge feels like taking part in something timeless yet still very present-day: partaking in history-in-the-making while experiencing stunning panoramic views across London from high above ground level.Most importantly,don’t forget to take pictures because historical sites deserve it!

Our fantastic tour guide, Katy, brought the stories of those buried here to life with her knowledge and engaging delivery that even two hours flew by too fast.

One of my favourite parts was going up O’Connell’s tower, which gave us a bird’s-eye view of Dublin as well as insight into its significant historical events. The climb to the top may not be easy for everyone but once there it was worth every breath we took! The views are utterly spectacular!

Another stunning feature that stands out about this historic site is how beautifully kept everything is: one could tell just how much pride goes into maintaining these gravesites. Overall, I would absolutely recommend spending some time wandering around Experience Glasnevin since it’s a delightfully unique way to learn about Ireland’s remarkable past.

In conclusion, if you want an educational experience and learn more about Dublin without being overwhelmed with boring facts then Experience Glasnevin should be at the top of your must-visit list! It’s worth every penny spent on tickets because besides learning so much about Ireland’s political struggles through generations –you end up feeling deeply connected somehow –like having witnessed something special. Kilmainham Gaol is a must-visit spot in Dublin, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. This place has played such an essential role in Irish history, and the tour does an excellent job of bringing that story to life. Our guide was outstanding – so enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the jail’s past! He took us through every detail of the prison with a passion that made the experience even more engaging.

The restoration work on this site is also exceptional. Everything looks stunning, like stepping back into time but still remaining safe for visitors to explore. After our tour had finished, we got access to their fantastic museum as well. It has plenty of interesting artifacts you can check out at your leisure time.

Booking ahead online is best as they sell out fast; trust me when I say this: all efforts will be paid off with this visit! If you’re a history buff or just love learning about new places while travelling—Kilmainham Gaol will surely not disappoint!
