Portmarnock Sports and Leisure Club

⭐ Our Unvarnished Impressions of Portmarnock Sports and Leisure Club:

Portmarnock Sports and Leisure Club is a real treasure in the heart of Portmarnock. With its myriad of activities, my kids have been thoroughly entertained over the years. The place is always spotless, making it a pleasure to visit time and again. The public swimming pool is an absolute highlight – perfect for both serious swimmers and those just looking to splash around.

The bar/café offers a cosy spot to unwind or catch up on some work while waiting for the little ones. And let’s not forget the adjacent park, which is ideal for a leisurely stroll after a workout session. Parking can be a bit chaotic, especially since they revamped the car park but somehow managed to complicate their own one-way system.

Despite this minor hiccup, I find myself returning frequently because of the excellent facilities and friendly atmosphere. Have you tried their fitness classes? They’re top-notch!

👍 Our Reasons for Recommending:

  • Spotless and well-maintained facilities
  • Wide variety of activities available
  • Cosy bar/café for relaxation

Fancy a bit of fun and fitness? ALSAA Sports Centre on Old Airport Road is your go-to spot! Coolock Swimming Pool

⭐ Our Genuine Review of Coolock Swimming Pool:

What a refreshing experience Coolock Swimming Pool offers! Tucked away on Oscar Traynor Road, this public swimming pool is a real treasure for anyone keen on a splash. The newly refurbished facilities are a massive improvement over the old pool, making it an inviting spot for both seasoned swimmers and beginners alike.

I’ve been attending aqua aerobics here every week, and it’s always a highlight. The staff are friendly enough, though they could be more engaging. However, the quality of the classes more than makes up for it. And if you have kids, their swimming lessons are top-notch – my little ones have made remarkable progress!

A minor downside is hearing that it might close down soon – such a pity! But until then, make sure to dive in and enjoy what Coolock Swimming Pool has to offer. Have you ever seen such an impressive transformation in a local pool?

Aura De Paul Swimming Pool

⭐ Our Genuine Review of Aura De Paul Swimming Pool:

I’ve got to tell you about the Aura De Paul Swimming Pool at Saint Vincents Centre on Navan Road. This place is an absolute treasure for anyone who loves swimming or just wants a friendly, welcoming environment. The staff are brilliant – always ready with a smile and genuinely helpful. It’s like being part of a big, happy family every time I go there.

I’ve been doing their L3 swim lessons to improve my technique and endurance, and the progress I’ve made in just seven weeks is incredible! Plus, the aqua aerobics classes are an absolute blast – mainly because of the fantastic instructors and the lively group of attendees. It’s not the fanciest pool around, but it’s clean and has such a warm atmosphere that I wouldn’t trade it for anything more posh.

If you’re looking for top-notch swimming classes for kids, this is where you want to be. My children learned here 40 years ago, and now my grandchildren are following suit with caring professional teachers guiding them every step of the way. Honestly, it’s one of those rare finds that keeps families coming back generation after generation.

Ballymun Swimming Pool

⭐ An Unfiltered Assessment of Sports and Fitness Ballymun:

If you’re after a top-notch fitness experience, Sports and Fitness Ballymun is the place to be! Craig’s Aqua class is an absolute blast – imagine a variety of moves with hand floats and weights, all set to fantastic music. The energy he brings is infectious, making it the highlight of my week.

The facility itself is impressive, boasting four 25-metre swimming lanes, a steam room, and a sauna. It’s perfect for anyone who loves a good swim or needs some relaxation time. The staff are incredibly friendly and create such a welcoming atmosphere. However, I do wish there were more platforms and better enforcement of gym etiquette.

Crumlin Swimming Pool

⭐ An Unfiltered Assessment of Swan Leisure @ Crumlin:

Fancy a splash before lunch? Swan Leisure @ Crumlin is the place to be! I popped in during family open swim times, and wow, what a treat. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, making us feel right at home. The pool itself is in top-notch condition – perfect for a refreshing dip.

One thing that struck me was how clean everything was. You know it’s spotless when you catch a whiff of bleach every time you’re there. I even took a sample of the water home (yes, I’m that curious), and it was crystal clear under the light! Sure, it smelled a bit like bleach, but hey, better safe than sorry, right?

The availability of swimming lessons for kids is fantastic here. The trainers are professional and approachable, making learning fun and effective. Plus, with affordable prices, it’s an excellent option for families in the area. Definitely worth checking out!

Enable Ireland Swimming Pool

⭐ Our Genuine Review of Enable Ireland Swimming Pool:

What a fantastic experience at Enable Ireland Swimming Pool! Located on Sandymount Avenue in Dublin 4, this public swimming pool is an absolute haven for families with young children. The water temperature is perfect for babies and toddlers, making it a rare find among swimming pools. I enrolled my little one in the “Swim Cubs” classes, and the instructors were incredibly patient and engaging.

The facilities are spotless, and the staff couldn’t be friendlier. They go out of their way to ensure everyone has a pleasant visit. While the changing rooms lack lockers, it’s a minor inconvenience compared to the overall quality of service provided.

Public swim sessions are also available, which means you can enjoy some quality time splashing around with your little ones outside of class hours. Have you ever found a place that makes you feel so welcome? This pool certainly does! Highly recommended for anyone with young children looking for a warm and friendly swimming environment.

Markievicz Leisure Centre

⭐ Our Unvarnished Impressions of Markievicz Leisure Centre:

Stepping into Markievicz Leisure Centre on Luke Street, Dublin 2, is like discovering a hidden gem in the heart of the city. The place boasts a fantastic public swimming pool that’s perfect for both casual swimmers and those looking to get some serious laps in. The entry fee of €8.65 for a day pass is quite reasonable, considering the range of facilities available.

The staff here are always ready to lend a hand, making every visit pleasant and hassle-free. I particularly appreciate their friendly demeanour and willingness to assist with any queries or issues. However, I do feel that the changing rooms could benefit from more frequent cleaning, especially given how quickly they can get wet and dirty due to the pool and sauna usage.

Despite this minor hiccup, Markievicz Leisure Centre remains a great spot for fitness enthusiasts. Whether you’re diving into the pool or hitting the gym, it offers excellent value without breaking the bank. Have you tried their sauna yet? It’s an absolute treat after a workout!

Iveagh Fitness Club

⭐ An Unfiltered Assessment of Iveagh Fitness Club:

Stepping into Iveagh Fitness Club, I was immediately struck by the spaciousness and variety of equipment available. This place is a real treasure for fitness enthusiasts in Dublin! The gym itself is well-equipped with everything from free weights to state-of-the-art machines, ensuring that all workout needs are met.

The leisure centre facilities are equally impressive. The low-lighted pool offers a serene swimming experience, although it could be a tad warmer. The sauna and steam room provide the perfect post-workout relaxation. One minor gripe: there’s only one water station located at the reception on the main floor—something they could definitely improve upon.

Despite its quirks, Iveagh Fitness Club remains a fantastic spot for both serious workouts and leisurely swims in their public swimming pool. The atmosphere is calm and never feels overcrowded, making it an ideal choice for those who prefer a quieter environment. Would I go back? Absolutely!

What a fantastic experience Templeogue College Swimming Pool offers! This public swimming pool on Templeville Road in Dublin is an absolute must-visit. My younger boy joined the improver 2 session on Sunday, and he absolutely loved it. The coaches are incredibly supportive, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that even as a watching parent, I find relaxing and enjoyable.

The facilities are top-notch, with lane swimming available for those looking to get some serious laps in. While the showers could use a bit of updating, the overall cleanliness and maintenance of the pool area are commendable.
