Afterward, those 21+ had an opportunity to sample some of their finest offerings with guidance from our guide and members of the distilling team on site.

The gift shop afterward was quite charming- stocked full of unique souvenirs for taking home as reminders of this outstanding experience! The taster glasses etched with “Old Bushmills” make excellent gifts or mementos for your own home bar cart too! My favorite moment here however goes back to when we entered into a room full barrels aging away, it felt like stepping into another world at times without all modernity found else wear they take you in time beyond anything imaginableto appreciate whiskey taken in such ways decades ago by predecessors down generations now long gone forgotten yet very much alive if one has just eyes open. Overall visiting Old Bushmills Distillery is an unforgettable experience that takes you deep into understanding true master craftsmanship and antiquity behind wonderful creations like traditional whiskeys produced there since way back 1608 which would not be possible today without astounding expertise contributed countless souls over years patience endured throughout ages still used same processes recipes derived handed down between family dynasties lasting throughout time immemorial.)). Achill Island Distillery

Achill Island Distillery

☝️ Our reasons for recommending:

  • Authenticity and humbling experience.
  • Easy to follow tour structure.
  • Great value for money.

Firstly, Achill Island Distillery is a great choice for anyone looking to learn more about the production of whiskey. With tours ran by one of the distillery brothers, their genuine interest in how their product is made ensures that visitors are welcomed into a humbling experience full of informative knowledge and insights. The easy-to-follow tour structure accommodates even those who may not have prior experience with whisky while including plenty of opportunities to ask questions throughout. As an added bonus, samples are provided at the end for guests to enjoy before they leave!

Secondly, Achill Island Distillery offers superb value for money. Having visited several other distilleries prior to arriving here we can highly recommend it based on its price point alone – plus also due to its customer service as we appreciated that despite arriving late, help was still offered from guiding us through the tour regardless if it didn’t benefit them monetarily or otherwise! Therefore this speaks volumes and shows that quality counts first and foremost when visiting this place over anything else.

Lastly there’s definitely something special about touring around Achills Irish American Whiskeys as again – although having travelled previously Scotland & Ireland as above mentioned – here you feel authenticity is key which stands out , giving visitors assurance of trustworthiness since you\re being guided by someone passionate and knowledgeable rather than simply learning facts straight off a poster board etc. All in all definitely worth your time visiting & finding out what makes these amazing products so distinctively unique against any common alternatives out there making it truly ‘one of kind’ !

FAQs About Whiskey Distilleries in Ireland

▷ What are the types of whiskey produced by Irish distilleries?

Irish distilleries produce various types of whiskey, such as single malt, blended, and pot still. Single malt is made from 100% malted barley and distilled in a pot still at a single distillery. Blended whiskey is a mixture of different whiskies sourced from multiple distilleries. Pot still whiskey is made from a combination of malted and unmalted barley.

▷ How long does it take for Irish whiskeys to age?

The ageing process for Irish whiskeys varies depending on the type of whiskey being produced. Most single malts are aged between 8-12 years while blends can be aged anywhere up to 20 or more years. However, some newer distilleries may release younger expressions or non-age statement whiskies that have matured for shorter periods.

▷ Are there any organic or sustainable Irish Whiskey Distilleries?

Yes! In recent years, several Irish Whiskey Distillers have started focusing on sustainability practices in their production methods using renewable energy sources like wind turbines and solar panels; also they source local ingredients to reduce carbon footprints.

▷ Is there any difference between Scottish whisky and Irish Whiskey?

Yes! There are differences between Scottish whisky (Scotch) and Irish Whiskey including the raw materials used in production, the way they're distilled, and the climate conditions that affect their taste profiles. The most significant difference lies in how Scotch is typically double-distilled whereas most traditional Irish whiskeys undergo triple-distillation resulting in lighter body spirits with less pronounced peat smoke flavours than scotches.

▷ Can I visit Best Whisky Distillery sites without taking tours?

You cannot always visit an active working site without taking a tour but you can often visit visitor centres where you can learn about the history & traditions behind each brand. Sometimes these Visitor Centres will offer tastings too so make sure you check ahead before your visit.
