The popcorn was fresh and deliciously buttery, while their selection of drinks left me spoiled for choice. As for the seating? Oh goodness gracious! Those seats were so incredibly comfortable that I could have easily dozed off during the film (not that I did!). It's a shame about there being no pick and mix at the moment due to COVID-19 restrictions, but hey, sacrifices must be made.
I have lost count of how many times I've visited The Reel Picture now, but one thing remains constant – it is hands down the best cinema in Cork. With its prime location and reasonable prices, this gem should not be missed. Triskel Arts Centre, oh how I've fallen head over heels for this gem in Cork! Let me start by raving about the atmosphere that the converted church gives to this place. It exudes intimacy and charm like no other venue I've come across. During my visit to Cork Jazz Festival, I was treated to a concert that left me absolutely spellbound. The acoustics were on point, creating an exquisite musical experience.
Now let's talk about the staff – always lovely and friendly. Their warmth only enhanced my overall enjoyment of this arts centre. On top of attending performances, I also had the pleasure of exploring their gallery space during the Cork International Film Festival. Although comfort may not be found in their benches after sitting for a while, there was nothing uncomfortable about the temperature in the entire space.
The Triskel Arts Centre truly encapsulates vibrant and eclectic programming at its finest right in downtown Cork City. A historic building with fascinating stories housed within it, this former church turned performance space is simply awe-inspiring. And did I mention how amazing the staff are? Unfortunately, the cafe has closed temporarily but one can hope it'll reopen soon because it would be a great addition to an already stellar establishment.
